how do you wash your make-up brushes?

So I've been washing my brushes once every week to once every two weeks, depending on how often I use them.
I use a mixture of baby shampoo, alcohol, dish washing soap and conditioner in equal amounts and pour it into a dish filled with warm water. The dish is filled with just enough water so the bristles can be washed in it, without the ferrule getting into the water...(ideally). So let's say the water has a depth of about 1 cm. I heard that the water should not touch the ferrule - the metal part - otherwise your make-up brushes will get damaged.
Now, I never manage to wash my brushes without the ferrule part getting a little wet and I panic.
Most of my brushes right now, are either no-brand or crown brushes and if I would mess them up I wouldn't be that sad, however I will be receiving my MAC brushes soon and I hope that they will last me a life time, ok, a few decades would do too. :)
After the water's colour changes, I change the washing solution for the rest of the brushes and rinse the bristles of the brush. I wait for the water to run clear. Again the ferrule is getting wet!
In order for the brushes to dry well I first squeeze out the excess water and then lay the brushes flat on a towel. It usually takes several hours up to a day for them to dry.

How do you wash your brushes? Does your ferrule get wet, too?

mini haul

Beauty Care - Israel

I recently discovered this beauty supply store in the mall in my town and was amazed how cheap everything was. They have a full range of all sorts of beauty supplies for "professionals" at really low prices.
I ended up spending a lot of time at the brush isle. They have all sorts of brushes, for as little as USD 1 a brush!
I grabbed 5 of them. I haven't tested them yet, but I think they compare to Crown Brushes/Coastal Scents Quality or slightly lower quality.
• #D Fine Eyeliner (synthetic)

• S232 Small Chisel Fluff
• C153 Deluxe Large Chisel Fluff

• S217 Deluxe Round Crease
• K21 Deluxe Crease

I also got myself an eyeshadow in a beautiful shimmery taupy brown. This eyeshadow was about USD 1.50 and seems to have good pigmentation (only swatched without primer).

Unfortunately I don't know if these products can be bought anywhere outside of Israel. But thought I'd share for those who are in Israel.

Mac Staff argggg

So I was walking around in town and thought I'd stop by the MAC store. I find their staff really annoying and obnoxious, but whatever. Who cares, right?
Anyway, since I'll be getting my Studio Sculpt foundation soon, I wanted to ask one of the girls there, if it would be possible to exchange it, if the colour doesn't match my skin tone (apparently they are running slightly darker). She told me it wasn't possible, because it was bought abroad. Fair enough.
Then she asked me which shade I got it in. I told her NC30. Info: I was matched an NC37 (?!) by her colleague 2 months ago, and was like nah uh, you can't match my foundation to my body because my body is 2-3 shades darker than my face and it would look stupid. She accused me of lying in the sun too much! WTF? I then went on to justify my body's skin tone, trying to explain to her, that my body's colour comes after my mom, who's like an NC40 and my face after my dad, who's an NC20 (if he was to wear make up, LOL). What a dumbface.
Anyway, this time the bitch-o-stupido told me I am an NW20! I was like nah uh! I am between an NC25 and an NC30. And she was like, no, NW20, definitely NW! Haha. Dumb-dumb. I know my shit. Seriously. Especially my own face! Then she went on to tell me that it really doesn't matter that I got the NC30 (, although I'm an NW20,) because I or anyone else won't be able to tell the difference and that only THEY (MAC people) can tell the difference and can tell that the colour is off. "I can tell the difference and I am not an NW20!!!!" ARGgggggg! Idiots, seriously!

Three good things about today

1. It's beautiful out. It'll be 22 Degrees Celsius! Yay.
2. Today is my 2nd day as a non-smoker. Having some cravings for the smoke, and even more for chocolate and i can't resist. damn!
3. I decided I need to start changing my eating habits again, summer is just around the corner and I wanna lose some of that weight. Especially now that I have quit smoking I cannot afford to put on any more weight.

new resolution

I decided i am gonna stop smoking so I can afford more make-up, MAC to be precise. Yeah, nevermind that i said it's overpriced. I still wanna get a ton of items by MAC and what better way to kick an addiction? Just replace it with a new one...
